A river of devotion

As Zubeen’s body entered Guwahati, thousands lined the streets. Some cried, others sang, all united in heartbreak. His final return turned into a city-wide tribute of love and loss.

2/7

Homecoming of a legend

The airport turned into a shrine as Zubeen's remains arrived. Fans broke barricades, officials wept, and his songs filled the air — a moment that froze time in collective grief.

3/7

The 7-hour farewell

A 30-km drive stretched into 7 hours as fans walked beside the hearse, refusing to let him travel alone. It wasn’t just a journey — it was Assam’s final embrace.

4/7

Songs, silence, and sorrow

Thousands gathered in the rain to say goodbye. Zubeen lay in a glass coffin, while his wife Garima thanked the crowd. The pain was shared, and the silence sang.

5/7

He belonged to all of us

Fans came from every corner — by train, car, foot. Some paid extra, others had no tickets. But all came with one purpose: to stand with Zubeen one last time.

6/7

A hymn for Zubeen Garg

At Delhi airport, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, softly sang Zubeen’s personal favourite — Mayabini — in a deeply moving moment while receiving the mortal remains of Zubeen Garg

7/7

A resting place of legacy

Amid full state honours, Zubeen will be cremated at Hatimura. A 10-bigha memorial will rise here — not just a place of mourning, but a space for his music to live on.

People here behave like little children...they live vicariously through the lives of their "idols", as an escape from the drudgery of their petty little lives. This could be because they have too much time on their hands, as they have nothing 'better' to do with their time.
