Emily Lalrinpuii, the press information officer to Zoramthanga, on Monday said, "The meeting to find an amicable solution to the border row was postponed as the Assam CM could not return to Delhi on time due to unforeseen circumstances."

The two chief ministers had a telephone conversation on September 16. Sarma had then said he had important and emergent matters to attend to and had flown back to Guwahati saying that he would return to Delhi on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Zoramthanga, currently in Delhi, met Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her office on Monday and apprised her about the financial problems being faced by Mizoram, Lalrinpuii said.

The chief minister also briefed Sitharaman on the humanitarian crisis in the state following the influx of more than 30,000 refugees from Myanmar in the wake of the political turmoil there and sought the Centre's intervention in the matter. The Union finance minister assured Zoramthanga that she would take up these issues and try to assist the state government tide over the problems, she said.

Sitharaman informed the Mizoram CM that the Centre had been generous towards the state, especially in allocating the bamboo link road pilot project and other schemes under the PM-Devine to it, and would continue to provide all possible help for its overall development.

Earlier, Sarma and Zoramthanga had met in presence of Union home minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on November 26 last year.
