Assam man held for online fraud in Arunachal
Itanagar: A man from Assam has been arrested for duping a woman of Rs 90,000 by posing as a retailer offering iron rods at unusually low prices in an online fraud case here.The accused, identified as Soribuddin Ahmed, was arrested from Kutubpur in Bihpuria, Assam, by a team from Papu Hills PS led by inspector Gejum Basar, along with assistant sub-inspector M Rebe and constable Pankaj Saikia on Thursday.The case, registered under Sections 318/319 of BNS read with Section 66(D) of the IT Act at Papu Hills PS, follows a complaint from the victim who lost Rs 90,000 as an advance payment to a fraudster ‘Md Ashiqul Alom’, who failed to deliver the goods, Naharlagun ICR superintendent of police Nyelam Nega said. The operation was supervised by Naharlagun subdivisional police officer Rishi Longdo, under the guidance of Papu Hills PS officer in-charge inspector Torun Mai.
