GUWAHATI: The family members of

Shakh Farid

and

Maynal

Hoque, who were killed in police firing during the

Dholpur

eviction, have filed FIRs with Darrang police seeking “inquiry and justice”.

Darrang superintendent of police

Sushanta Biswa Sarma

told TOI that the case has been registered at Sipajhar police station based on the complaints filed by Farid’s brother Amir Hussain and Maynal’s brother

Ainuddin

. Both the FIRs have been registerded under section 302 of IPC (murder).

The confrontation between the Dholpur villagers with a well-equipped police contingent during the eviction drive on September 23 had left two dead — a 12-year-old boy, Shakh Farid, from a village adjoining Dholpur and 28-year-old Maynal Hoque who was chasing a couple of policemen with a stick in his hand only to run into a posse of police waiting to bring him down.
