Jorhat district border magistrate Jayanta Goswami said, "We demanded that the Nagaland government arrest the culprits involved in killing the innocent Assamese villager at Naginijan. We have also asked the Nagaland authorities to conduct a proper investigation into the matter so that the people of Assam can feel secure."
"The border magistrate and sub-divisional police officer of Nagaland assured us that the arrest would be made without delay. They informed us that investigation is on to identify and arrest the culprits, who killed the Assamese villager," he added.
The authorities of the two neighbouring states unanimously decided to hold talks between the border magistrates every 15 days from now onwards and regular meetings among the bordering villagers of both the states. They also took a resolution to maintain smooth communication between the administrations of both the states so that preventive measures can be taken to control law and order along the border.
