said Ahmed was arrested from Bhandara village in the district on Friday on the basis of the statements of the three members of the group who were arrested on April 18. He was in police custody for two days and sent to jail on Sunday.

The SP said, "Three members - Imran Hossain, Abul Kashem and Hamid Ali - were arrested by Tripura police earlier in April from the border village of Sonamura in Sepahijala district. Later, we arrested them in connection with a case registered here."

was trying to influene people to join the group.

"The members were working as sleeper cells in the district. Ahmed had pursued religious education in Deoband in Uttar Pradesh," he added.

Police seized several bank account documents along with some literature and electronic devices from the possession of the accused. The police said a few more arrests are likely.
