Arunachal Rang Mahotsav concludes
Itanagar: Governor KT Parnaik Thursday urged the people of the state to nurture and preserve their rich cultural heritage, ensuring its vibrancy for future generations. Speaking at the valediction function of the international theatre festival of Arunachal Pradesh, ‘Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2024', held at Indira Gandhi Park here, Parnaik called for making the festival the beginning of a cultural renaissance in the state, fostering a tradition that bridges local and global, traditional and contemporary cultures. The festival, which began on Nov 22, culminated after a fortnight of diverse national and international performances. With over 33 performances from across the globe and India, the festival offered unique narratives and fresh perspectives, emphasizing theatre's power to transcend borders and unite humanity."Theatre is the soul of the country, and its people, and it serves as the best medium to convey contemporary social messages," he said. He noted that Rangmanch, an ancient tradition of India, reflects society and captures the richness, challenges, and aspirations of its people. He emphasized the importance of theatre activities in districts and villages to keep the age-old cultural heritage alive. The governor commended the Roots Art and Cultural Trust, the artists, organizers, and volunteers for their efforts. He also praised the theme of the festival, ‘Route to Roots', which, he said, reminded all of the importance of staying connected to their origins while embracing global diversity with open arms.AP Legislative Assembly speaker, Tesam Pongte, renowned theatre director and academic Dr Anuradha Kapur, and festival director Riken Ngomle also spoke at the event.A special theatrical performance, ‘Tani La Tanyo', based on a Tani folktale from Arunachal and directed by Ngomle, was presented on the occasion. The Arunachal Rang Mahotsav 2024 served as a dynamic platform for artists, performers, and audiences from around the world.
