Anti-drug messages promoted at Lunglei’s Easter egg art contest
In a vibrant celebration of creativity, Lunglei's Narco Coordination Centre recently held a spirited prize ceremony for an Easter egg painting contest under the theme 'Combat Drug Menace.' Young artists used their talents to craft visually stunning eggs and placards, spreading powerful anti-drug messages.
Aizawl: The district-level committee on the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) in Lunglei organised a prize distribution ceremony on Wednesday for the Easter egg painting competition held under the theme “Ruihhlo Do” (combat against drug menace), in collaboration with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. The ceremony took place at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall in Lunglei town. The competition was conducted on Easter Sunday, April 5, across various churches within the Lunglei Municipal Council (LMC) area. Designed as an awareness initiative, the programme encouraged children and youth to creatively express anti-drug messages through Easter egg painting and slogan-bearing placards.Participants from different churches actively took part by designing Easter eggs and placards carrying messages against substance abuse. Winners were selected based on photographs of entries submitted by the respective churches, and prizes were formally distributed during the programme.Deputy commissioner Navneet Mann said the competition was not only part of Easter celebrations but also an initiative to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the people of Lunglei. She appreciated all participants and organisers for making the programme a success. She said drug abuse adversely affects both physical and mental health, depletes financial resources, and creates challenges for families and society. She urged all citizens, especially the youth, to stay away from drugs and support efforts to combat substance abuse.
