Amit Shah says BJP supports reservation, slams Congress for spreading misinformation
GUWAHATI: A day after holding a massive road show in Guwahati, union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday slammed Congress for allegedly spreading misinformation that BJP will end ST, SC OBC reservation after achieving its goal of 400+ seats and said that the “BJP is always in favour of reservation and will act as protector of reservation.”
Addressing the media at the party’ state headquarter in Guwahati , Shah said, “They (Congress) spread a fake video of me on ending reservation. I had the original clippings. Everything became crystal clear after placing the original clippings. Now, prominent leader of Congress is facing criminal offence. The act of spreading fake video and gaining peoples support shows their ultimate frustration.”
In is pertinent to mention that a person identified as Reetam Singh was arrested by the Assam police on Monday allegedly for spreading a ‘fake’ video of Shah about ending reservation system.
He said, “Congress spread misinformation that BJP will end SC, ST and OBC reservation after achieving its goal of winning 400+ seats. They spread rumour that BJP’s goal of 400+ seats is to change the Constitution. These are completely baseless and factless.”
Shah added reservation based on religion is unconstitutional. “In Andhra Pradesh, Congress gave reservation to Muslims which affected the backward classes. Similarly, they did same thing in Karnataka, where also OBC people were affected,” he added.
The union home minister further added that BJP has run government for two consecutive terms with absolute majority but has not used the absolute majority to impose emergency and strangle democracy like Congress did in the past.
He slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi doing cheap level politics. “Congress should fight the battle of ballots on their own manifesto, not by spreading fake video and misinformation and thereby misleading people and thereby garnering support,” he added.
Talking on the first two phases of Lok Sabha elections, Shah said the internal assessment of the party shows that the BJP will thump victory in more than 100 seats among the seats went to polls in the first two phases.
“BJP led alliance has achieved big success in Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattishgarh and Uttarakhand while initial trend in Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu shows that BJP is receiving good response in South India too,” he added.
