Aizawl: The counting of votes for the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections will be conducted from 8am on Monday, state election commissioner H Lalthlangliana said
.
Lalthlangliana said the counting will he held on the premises of the Aizawl district deputy commissioner’s office, where four counting halls with a total of 36 counting tables have been set up. “Elaborate security arrangements are also made to ensure peaceful and smooth counting of votes,” he said.
Votes polled through home voting by elderly, specially-abled and sick people as well as election officials prior to the polling held on April 21 will be counted first. This will be followed by counting of votes cast via EVMs, he said.
A total of 68 candidates contested the AMC polls. The ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM),
Mizo National Front (MNF) and Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) contesting all the seats, while BJP contested 11 seats.
