Ricky W, the assistant manager of Union Bank of India's Katlicherra branch was found dead in his rented house on Friday morning. An officer at Katlicherra police station said prima facie, the cause of Ricky's death was not clear and an autopsy was ordered.

The bank informed the police that Ricky was on sick leave for the past two days but had met some colleagues from the office on Thursday evening and seemed cheerful.

Hailakandi has been home to a sizable Manipuri population from all communities for decades.

Rickey's body was first then taken to Katlicherra primary health centre where he was declared brought dead. The body was thereafter taken to Hailakandi SK Roy civil hospital for autopsy, but again shifted by police in the presence of a magistrate to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for the post-mortem examination. Ricky's wife, daughter and a few other relatives reached Katlicherra from Imphal Friday evening after hearing the news of his death, sources said.

Abhishek Chakraborty, manager of the bank, told reporters Ricky was on leave for two days, citing health issues. Ricky visited the Katlicherra primary health centre on Thursday and went back to his rented house.
