Silchar: Cachar police arrested two more fake doctors in the last two days, officials said on Sunday. With this 17 quakes have been arrested in Cachar district since August.
Acting on credible information, a police team apprehended one Indrajit Roy (39) during a raid at a private clinic in the E&D Colony area of Tarapur on Sunday. According to police, Roy had been posing as a visiting doctor and treating patients without valid credentials. He was caught red-handed during the operation, and legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
A day earlier, on Saturday, police arrested Sopal Roy, a resident of Choto Jalenga under Dholai police station, for allegedly running a fake medical practice from his own pharmacy. Investigators said he had been treating patients for a long time, impersonating a qualified medical practitioner. He had even set up a separate doctor’s chamber adjacent to his pharmacy, police sources added.
Additional SP (Cachar) Subrata Sen said the police have taken a strong stance against illegal medical practices and fake doctors in the district.
