Guwahati: At least 13 members of the All Adivasi National Liberation Army (

AANLA

) laid down their arms before the security forces at Bokajan in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on Sunday, hours before Union home minister Amit Shah’s visit to the state.
The cadres deposited four AK-series rifles, five pistols, and a huge amount of ammunition at the time of surrender before the senior officers of Assam police, Indian Army, Assam Rifles and CPRF.
Satyaraj Hazarika, DIG (central range), said Assam police, Indian Army along with other security forces had been working to bring the AANLA cadres to the mainstream following the appeal of chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to make the state terrorism-free.
The outfit, formed in 2006, is based in Golaghat and hill district of Karbi Anglong. Sources said the homecoming of the 13 cadres is being considered a big achievement for the state government.
