Agartala: South Tripura’s Santirbazar turned tense on Wednesday ahead of the upcoming ADC elections after a violent clash broke out between supporters of the BJP and its ally in government, TIPRA Motha, during a nomination filing procession
.Police said the confrontation began when a vehicle allegedly linked to TIPRA Motha entered a BJP procession, collided with a motorcycle and triggered chaos. The situation escalated rapidly, with supporters of both parties clashing. Around 10 party workers and supporters from both sides were injured.
The incident has raised concerns over the law and order situation in ADC areas ahead of the sensitive election. The ADC region accounts for 31 percent of the state’s population and covers nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area.
