The charge sheet has been filed with all evidence against Bandana Kalita (31) and her accomplices, Dhanti Deka and Arup Deka, said police.

In July last year, with the help of Dhanti and Arup, Bandana had allegedly murdered her mother-in-law, Sankari Dey (62), at her residence at Zoo Road Tiniali. Later, they killed her husband, Amarjyoti Dey (32), at his flat in the city’s Narengi in August. They allegedly chopped the bodies into pieces and disposed of the parts in neighbouring Meghalaya.

In September, she filed a missing complaint about her mother-in-law and husband. “Initially, a probe was launched into the missing complaint, but police had no clue. In February, they reworked the case and arrested Bandana after a preliminary interrogation. Based on her statements, police arrested her accomplices,” said a police officer.

“A few body parts were found in Alieangriat and Dawki, while the machete that was used in the crime was recovered from a rivulet in Guwahati,” the official added.
