Workers’ bid to leave Gurugram in truck foiled
GURUGRAM: A driver and a migrant worker from West Bengal were arrested on Saturday after they were caught trying to leave the city in a truck from Ashok Vihar 3.
Officers said they received a tip-off that a truck would leave from Chottu Ram Chowk with migrant workers to West Bengal. Acting on the information, a team from Sector 5 police station reached the spot just as the workers were climbing into the vehicle.
“There were around 15 workers and they ran away when they saw us.

We nabbed the truck driver — Jai Prakash — and a man named Rafiqul Islam who had planned the escape and negotiated with the truck driver,” said an officer.
An FIR has been registered under sections 188 and 269 of the IPC. “He said that he will charge Rs 1.2 lakh irrespective of the number of people going in the truck,” Islam told the police. Cops have not yet been able to ascertain the total number of workers who were supposed to pay for the journey. This is the second such incident in the city this week.
