GURUGRAM: An Indian employee of a UK-based telecom company has accused her
boss
of molesting her at a corporate party in a Sector 29 bar. The
woman
has also alleged that one of her woman colleagues was trying to hush up the matter.
An FIR has been registered against the two persons, including the woman being accused, at Sector 29 police station. Police said the alleged crime took place on May 15 at Hook Gurugram, a popular eatery-cum-bar, where the company management threw a party for the Indian employees in honour of the boss’s visit to the Gurugram office, which is located in Cyber City, DLF-II. The main accused is a UK citizen, police said.
In her complaint, the 28-year-old woman has alleged that around 11pm that day, she had gone to the bar’s washroom. As she was standing in the queue outside the women’s washroom, her department head suddenly came and touched her inappropriately on the pretext of whispering something in her ear.
“I was shocked and confided in my senior manager, a woman. Suprisingly, she told me not to make an issue of the same and accept it as a practice in office parties. I have already put in my papers but the management is mentally harassing me by forcing me to work even though I have served the notice period,” she is learnt to have told the cops.
On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was registered against the two seniors colleagues of the woman under Section 354 (molestation) of IPC at Sector 29 police station on Friday. “We are investigating all spects of the case. Action will be taken as per law after verifying facts,” said SHO Anil Kumar.
In April this year, police had booked the human resources head of a private company in IMT Manesar after a 28-year-old executive accused the 45-year-old of sexually harassing, molesting and threatening her at workplace. And in March, a director of an MNC with its Gurugram office on Sohna road was booked for allegedly sexually harassing his former colleague.
