Woman (45) run over by college bus, cops look for its driver in Gurgaon

Gurgaon: A woman was run over by a college bus near Ambedkar Chowk in Sohna on Tuesday afternoon. The bus, which belonged to Nirankari Baba Gurbachan Singh Memorial College, was reportedly ferrying staff at the time of the incident. According to police, the victim, identified as Ramrati (45), was a resident of Indri village in Nuh district. She worked as a sanitation worker at a private office on Palwal Road. Witnesses said the woman had just stepped out of an auto and attempted to cross the road moments after the bus passed a traffic signal. "The driver did not slow down and hit her directly. The front tyre of the bus alsoran over her, leading to her instant death," a police officer said. Police said the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle nearby. The bus has since been seized. Praveen Kumar, SHO of Sohna City police station, said a case has been registered against the unidentified driver under sections 106 (death due to negligence), 125 (act endangering life), and 281 (rash driving)."We are trying to identify and locate the driver. The woman's body was handed over to her family after post-mortem," Kumar said on Tuesday. Further investigation is underway, he added.
