GURUGRAM: A four-year-old child was mowed down by a Swift car in Farrukhnagar’s Iqbalpur village on Wednesday evening.
The boy’s uncle Manipal Singh filed a police complaint in the matter in which he stated that around 4pm he was sitting outside his home while his nephew Harsh Kumar was playing there.
“A resident of our village Manoj Kumar was heading home in his Swift car. He was speeding and mowed down Harsh before fleeing,” as the complaint read.
Immediately, Manipal arranged for a vehicle and rushed his nephew to SGT hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
“We got information from SGT hospital about the accident and a police team soon reached the spot. We came to know that a resident of the village mowed down the child and fled. However, we are trying to procure CCTV footage of the incident from the nearby area for more clarity. Teams have been formed to nab the accused,” said Jitender Singh, the SHO of Farrukhnagar police station.
The accused has been booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 A (causing death by negligence).
