A copy of the FIR accessed by TOI stated that Anil Yadav, along with his accomplices, reached Mohit’s office and said no one can operate in the region without their cooperation. “They threatened us and demanded Rs 2,50,000 per month for running our business of collecting solid waste and garbage at Sushant Lok-1,” said the complainant in his statement to the police.
He added that when they refused to pay the amount, they asked him to stop the operations in the area and offered to pay him for not collecting waste. “Anil Yadav also suppressed the rumours against our company on WhatsApp groups,” said the complainant.
Following his complaint, an FIR has been registered in the case under sections 34 and 384 of the IPC accounting to punishment for extortion and acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention. “We have registered the case as per the complaint and are currently investigating the matter,” said a police officer from the Sushant Lok-1 police station where the case was registered.
This is not the first time that such a matter has been raised in the city. Earlier also, the councillor reportedly had differences with private agencies over garbage collection here. In few cases, the councillors had accused the appointed agencies of malpractices.
Denying the allegations, Anil Yadav said he was being impicated. “Police will begin investigation and I am ready to record my statement. I am being framed in this case. Moreover, Ecogreen has no power to authorise a sub-vendor in any area. Moreover, if the rates have been fixed at Rs 50 per house, how is Ecogreen charging Rs 120 per house? All these things will be probed once cops begin the investigation,” said Yadav.
