Two teens bludgeon 62-year-old man to death with bricks, detained
Gurgaon: A 62-year-old man was bludgeoned to death with a brick and stone near Fazilpur Chowk in Farukhnagar early Sunday. The attackers, two juveniles, have been taken into custody. The victim is yet to be identified.Cops were alerted by a watchman who first spotted the man lying inebriated near a shop around 1:30am. The watchman called out to him, but the man did not respond. After doing rounds, when the watchman returned to the spot, around 3.30am this time, he found the man dead and bleeding from his head. A blood-stained stone and tile were found nearby.Police reached the scene and called in forensic teams to examine the area. The body was later sent to the mortuary for post-mortem and identification.The victim was taken to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A murder case was registered at Farukhnagar police station.During the investigation, police went through CCTV footage and used technical surveillance to identify the accused. They found that two juveniles went to Fazilpur Chowk to buy cigarettes when they came across the victim, who was intoxicated.
“After the accused teased the victim, who was sitting on the roadside, the latter verbally abused them, leading to an argument. The juveniles then attacked him with a brick and stone, causing fatal injuries. The man tried to hit them back but failed to do so as he was alone and in an inebriated state. The accused also checked his pockets after killing him to steal his belongings ,” Sandeep Turan, police spokesperson, said.Police have taken both juveniles into custody and are interrogating them. Further action will be taken as per rules, officials said, adding that the case remains under investigation.“The victim is yet to be identified. The body is still in the mortuary and an autopsy is awaited. The investigators are checking the missing complaints and are checking the neighbouring areas to get a clue about the victim. The juveniles didn’t know the victim and met him randomly on the road,” a cop added.
