Truck turns turtle at Kherki Daula toll plaza

in the early hours of Tuesday.

It took expressway concessionaire

MCEPL

and operator Skylark around seven hours to remove the truck, which led to a 3.5-km-long jam at the toll plaza till IMT Manesar Chowk.

The truck turned turtle around 3am. “It seems that the truck was

speeding

. It hit a vehicle while trying to take a U-turn, and overturned,” said Azad Singh, zonal inspector, Gurgaon traffic police. “The truck was shifted with the help of four hydraulic cranes. Passage at the toll plaza was made free for 90 minutes to reduce traffic congestion,” Singh added.

Commuters blamed the authorities for late action, claiming that hydraulic cranes reached the spot only at 8.45am. “I had to attend a meeting in Noida but was stuck in a traffic jam for more than two hours at the toll plaza,” Praveen Malik, vice-president and spokesman, United Association of New Gurugram, said.

Meanwhile, MCEPL claimed it suffered losses of lakhs. Vishnupriyan Balraj, an MCEPL official said, “We suffered losses of Rs 3.5 lakh as traffic volume is heavy during morning peak hours.”
