Gurgaon: Days after the staffers at a dhaba (roadside eatery) in Faridabad were assaulted by a group of men for refusing to bring a QR code to the car, three people were arrested on Thursday.
Those arrested include Manish (34), Anand alias Sunny (31) and Gunjesh (19) — all residents of Part-2 Gochhi in Faridabad's Jeevan Nagar area.
Police spokesperson Yashpal (SI) said, "Manish and Gunjesh have been sent to jail, while Sunny has been granted bail by a court. Manish runs a metal parts workshop, Sunny is in the milk business, while Gunjesh lives on rent near Manish's place."
A case had been registered at Kotwali police station on Monday under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 190 (unlawful assembly), 191 (rioting), 324 (rioting) and 333 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) of BNS.
An officer said the complainant — Dheeraj Bhatiya, the owner of dhaba located in NIT-1 area — said on Diwali, several people came in two cars and assaulted the staffers.
"As they tried to rescue themselves, the miscreants vandalised the dhaba and fled the scene," the officer said.
Around midnight, Manish and Sunny came to the dhaba to get food packed and they had an argument over payment. After this, around 3am, Manish came to the dhaba with his other associates and assaulted the staffers.
The officer added, "After getting food packed, Manish asked the dhaba employee to bring the scanner to the vehicle for online payment, but the dhaba employee refused to bring the scanner to the vehicle. Later, Manish left with his other associates. Subsequently, Manish, along with other accused and associates, came back to the dhaba and assaulted the staffers."
The police spokesperson said according to CCTV footage, seven-eight individuals could be seen assaulting the owner and the staffers and vandalising the dhaba.
However, the complainant said that around 15 individuals had arrived at the dhaba. The sticks used in the crime and the XUV have been seized.
