Speeding car kills woman in Badshahpur village; learner driver booked
Gurgaon: A 39-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a speeding car in Gairatpur Bas village under the Badshahpur police station limits on Sunday afternoon, police said. The victim, identified as Bhateri, was standing by the roadside near her fields with family members when the accident occurred around 4.35 pm. According to the complaint filed by her son, Dalip Singh, a Delhi transport corporation driver, a Maruti Swift coming from the Tikli village side was being driven at high speed and in a negligent manner.

The car hit Bhateri with force before crashing into a neem tree nearby. Dalip noted the vehicle number as HR-26 EG-6195 and identified the driver as Sameer Khan, a 20-year-old resident of the same village. Family members arranged a private vehicle and rushed Bhateri to Park Hospital in Sector 47, where doctors declared her brought dead due to multiple injuries.Police said the driver also sustained injuries in the crash and is undergoing treatment. "He was found to be carrying only a learner's licence, and initial inquiry suggests he was learning to drive at the time of the incident," a police officer said. On receiving information from the hospital, a police team reached the spot and later shifted the body to the Gurgaon mortuary. The post-mortem examination could not be conducted due to the late hour. A case has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS, police said.
