Many users strongly criticised and condemned the video, saying that Bindra "being a turban-wearing Sikh and president of the Gurdwara panel should not have bowed down to the minister's feet in such a manner.
Akal Takht secretariat took cognizance of the issue on the direction of Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh and ordered a probe into the matter.
SGPC officials called BS Bindra for a meeting and sought his clarification on the issue at Gurdwara Panjokhra Sahib in Ambala on Tuesday.
SGPC member Mangpreet Singh said, "For his act, BS Bindra has given a written apology addressed to Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib. He has admitted his mistake and submitted that he did not commit such an act intentionally. Bindra is ready to accept whatever decision is taken by Akal Takht Sahib in this matter."
As per the viral video, Vij had pulled back his feet and made no gestures towards Bindra when he bowed towards his feet.
