GURGAON: "I never meant to return to crime and was happy being respected as a councillor. But could not digest the insult by Sandeep Gadoli's aide, Raj Kumar Sethi, so I had to get him killed," said gangster-turned-MCG councillor Binder Gujjar during his questioning by police.
All five accused who have been arrested for Sethi's Diwali eve murder, including Gujjar, are on police remand.
So far, police have recovered two mobile phones from those arrested. Gujjar had given the contract to kill Sethi for Rs 15 lakh, of which he had already paid Rs 10 lakh. This happened on November 10, at the time he met middleman Sandeep Kala near Medicity. Gujjar paid Kala Rs 10 lakh, at which the sharpshooters Kala had recruited got into Gujjar's car. All of this was also part of Gujjar's confession.
Three days ago, police had arrested five people in connection with the murder. They included Gujjar and the two sharp-shooters and an arms dealer who had been given the contract to kill Sethi. On Monday, the crime unit recovered two mobile phones from the contract killers, Maninder alias Monu alias Kalu and associate Sumit Kumar. In the three days of questioning that followed, Gujjar admitted before police he wouldn't have returned to crime had property dealer Sethi, Gadoli's aide, not insulted him. With confessions in place, all five accused will be produced in a city court today.
Property dealer Raju Sethi, 32, resident of Mayfield Garden in Sector 51, was shot dead on the night of November 10 at a petrol pump on Palam Vihar road in Sector 5.
