‘Scriptwriter of Nuh riots’: CM Saini steps up attack on Khan
Gurgaon: Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini launched a blistering attack on Congress candidate from the Firozepur Jhirka assembly constituency Mamman Khan on Tuesday, calling him the "chief architect and scriptwriter of the tumultuous events" that unfolded in the Mewat region. The CM's remarks came in the wake of the Congress MLA's alleged outbursts over the July 2023 Nuh riots.Saini, who was addressing a gathering in the Tigaon assembly constituency of Faridabad late evening, said Khan's recent statement was "divisive" for society and could create "animosity and fear" among people. "Mamman Khan cannot evade the consequences of his actions. The law will undoubtedly catch up with him. No one would be able to shield him from the legal repercussions. He is now firmly entangled in the web of the law," Saini said.Referring to the sequence of events in 2023, Saini said since Khan was an accused in the Nuh "disturbance", the police arrested him, and he had to go to jail. "Has Khan forgotten that a guilty person is punished by the law? Such statements are not appropriate for him and if he continues to make them, he will face many difficulties. He was the scriptwriter of the events that unfolded in Nuh. How can he escape from this? He cannot escape the law and there is no question of anyone saving him," he asked.Earlier, Khan, while addressing a gathering, had said that nobody who has wronged the children of Nuh will be spared. "As soon as the Congress party comes into power, the accused will have to leave Mewat," Khan had said, adding that he had the names of "each and every person who had wronged Mewat", because of whom kids had to sleep on an empty stomach for days.Advising Khan to "rectify his statements" and exercise caution in his speech and addresses, the Haryana CM said Khan's mentality was a "product of his upbringing and the environment in which he was nurtured". Responding to the alleged lists of people who were involved in Nuh riots being compiled that Khan mentioned earlier in his speech on Monday, Saini said Khan should not concern himself with the numerous lists that have been created. Such behaviour does not befit a responsible leader, Saini said, adding, the Congress MLA should express his views in a "respectful manner".
