GURGAON: A 61-year-old senior citizen from Regency Park II has alleged that her electricity connection was disconnected after she raised a concern over car parking rates charged by the upscale society’s RWA.

“There was no car park available in the society when we bought a house in the society. There is no connection between car parking and electricity, but the RWA harassed me and disconnected the power connection in November 2015,” she claimed.
“I have been fighting for the cause of illegal car parking charges charged by the RWA as I was regularly paying electricity bills. Why should I pay for parking when no car parking is available in the society?” she added.
Virk, who also took up the issue with former district registrar and with deputy commissioner T L Satyaprakash, said, “The deputy commissioner helped me and immediately referred the case to the district registrar. My power connection was resumed after the district registrar issued strict instructions to the RWA to do so. However, the RWA again disconnected the supply within two days.”

Though the RWA admitted cutting off the power supply to her apartment, but said that Virk had failed to pay car parking charges and other maintenance charges, despite repeated reminders.
“She is neither paying car parking nor for her other maintenance services. My predecessor requested her to pay at least the maintenance charges, excluding car parking charges, so that the RWA could provide her basic amenities. She refused to do so. We therefore disconnected the electricity as per the bylaws of the RWA,” said Satish Singh of The Hamilton Court, Windsor Court and Regency Park II Condominium Association.
Virk had also got a complaint registered in the CM window, pointing to harassment by the RWA. DHBVN has also issued a letter to the RWA to restore the electricity supply to Virk’s apartment. “I really want this resolved at the earliest because it has caused me no end of stress,” said Virk.
