Residents fight together against NPR

GURGAON: The residents of Sai Kunj in Choma village have joined in the ongoing legal battle against the state government in connection with the land acquisition for the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR).
The litigants had moved court against the state governments decision to acquire this colony to be developed as HUDA Sector 110-A in order to rehabilitate oustees of New Palam Vihar, whose houses fall under the road alignment.However, a vacation bench of justice Hemant Gupta and Ritu Bahri have directed the state to maintain a status quo on the acquisition process. The state has been directed to file its reply before July 20.
The state had decided to relocate the New Palam Vihar oustees in Sector 110-A, which is being developed by uprooting the already existing residential colony of Sai Kunj. The state had already sent notifications for the acquisition. However, Sai Kunj does not fall under the NPR alignment, said Shailendra Jain, the advocate representing the Sai Kunj residents at the HC.
This could mean further delay in the completion of this 18-kilometre stretch, which was awarded to a private builder in March-April for construction work.
