GURGAON: With the transfer of the municipal commissioner of Gurgaon almost certain, a prominent residents' body has written a letter to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda requesting him to immediately transfer deputy commissioner Rajender Kataria as well.
"He has been posted as the deputy commissioner for the last two and half years and has failed in discharging his duties.

We have lost all faith in him. He is supposed to develop this city and has powers to do so, but he is just not bothered," said R S Rathee, president, Gurgaon Citizens Council.
"Nobody is happy with him and as a collective body of resident welfare associations we have laid down eight reasons for seeking his transfer. We have requested the CM that he should be transferred out of Gurgaon and a more competent and efficient deputy commissioner be posted in the district," he added.
"There are traffic jams everyday at several intersections in Gurgaon resulting in citizens wasting 30 to 45 minutes of their time. These intersections require flyovers urgently. We have brought this matter to the attention of the DC but he has shown little interest in solving it. Also, five underpasses are to be constructed across the NH-8 but he has not taken up this matter with the National Highway Authority of India so far. The result is that there are frequent accidents on the highway and many innocent lives are being lost. When we took up the matter with National Highway Authority of India, we were told that the DC had not written even a single letter to them on the subject," he said.
The residents of private colonies also allege that even though they are facing several problems with the builders and they have taken up the matter with the DC, but he is simply not bothered.
"The private builders and the DC are least bothered to mitigate our grievances. Private builders are collecting maintenance charges but do not provide services commensurate with the charges. We have held peaceful demonstration and dharnas several times, but he has paid no attention to these problems and has not taken up any issue with private builders," said T N Kaul, general secretary, GCC.
The most common complaint by almost all the residents is that the deputy commissioner has neither been able to correct or update the voters' list.
