Relieve staff of regular duties to expedite Census work, MCG wings told
Gurgaon: MCG commissioner and chief Census officer Pradeep Dahiya on Thursday directed all heads of departments, offices and branches of the civic body to relieve officers and employees engaged in Census-2027 duties from their regular responsibilities.
The house-listing exercise of Cenus-2027 is currently under way under the guidelines of the union and state govts, and must be completed within a stipulated time.
According to a statement issued by MCG, several officials deployed for Census work had been facing difficulties in completing assigned tasks because of their routine departmental duties. The exercise involves field visits, verification, data compilation and timely submission of reports, making uninterrupted availability of the staff essential.
“It has been observed that various officials/employees deployed for Census-2027 duties are facing difficulties in performing and completing their assigned census-related work within the stipulated timeline due to regular departmental engagements. In view of the above, all Heads of Departments/Branches under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Gurugram are hereby directed to suitably relax the officials/employees deputed for Census-2027 work and allow them adequate time and necessary administrative support to perform their census duties effectively and within the prescribed schedule,” read the order issued by Dahiya.
He also instructed deployed staff to prioritise Census-related work and complete it according to the scheduled programme.
Dahiya said, “Census-2027 will play an important role in the country’s development planning, policy formulation and decision-making process and coordination among all departments is necessary for the success of the campaign.”
