GURUGRAM: Seven-year-old Elena was up for a pleasant surprise when policemen knock at her door in Krishna Colony on Thursday with cake and balloons to celebrate her birthday.

members of IT cell of Haryana BJP

made arrangement to celebrate the birthday of seven years old after her grandmother, who lives in New Delhi, twitted to chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar.

Two days back Neetu Singh Rathod, who lives in New Delhi, wished chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on his birthday and mentioned that her grand-daughter’s birthday is on May 7. Rathod added that she would not able to be with her grand-daughter on her birthday due to lockdown.

without expecting anything. I was not hoping that anyone would take note of it,” said Rathod adding that she was surprised to know ruling party members and police celebrated Elena’s birthday. None of the family members in Gurgaon including Elena was aware about the tweet.

Arun Yadav, head of Haryana BJP IT cell, made took note of the tweet and planned to celebrate birthday of the girl. “I discussed with co-convenor of IT Cell Arvind Saini, who lives in Dayanad Colony, and planned to celebrate birthday,” said Yadav.

Arvind Saini said he blow up balloons at his home with the help of his family members arrange cake and contracted local police. “With the help of police team from New Colony we reached at Elena’s house. First we decorated the entry gate with balloon and knock at the door,” said Saini adding that they celebrated Elena’s birthday by cutting cake by following social distancing. A video of was shared with Rathod.

“It was a small gesture to make a child happy on her birthday during this lockdown. People are inside their homes for long time and police is making all efforts to help them in all possible ways,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
