AMBALA: The

Ambala

City police booked a person for

committing a theft

of Rs 4.6 lakh after trespassing on a house in the city on Sunday.

In his complaint, Karan Verma of

Kaithal

stated, "We have been living in a rented accommodation in

Balmiki Basti

of Ambala City. On May 15, we withdrew Rs 5 lakh from the bank account of my mother, who was admitted at Government Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, and was undergoing kidney-related treatment. My mother died at the hospital and we spent Rs 40,000 on her treatmen.

The remaining Rs 4.6 lakh were kept in a safe in our accommodation in Ambala and on May 25, I went to my auntie's place after locking my house. On May 26, when I returned home, I found that the locks of the main door and the safe were broken and Rs 4.6 lakh were missing. The entire household belongings were also scattered. I have a suspicion that Guddu has stolen the cash from my house as he used to visit the place often."

Following this complaint, the Ambala City police registered a case against Guddu under Sections 380 (theft in dwelling house) and 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment) of the IPC to start the investigation.

Investigation officer ASI Lal Chand said, "The accused is a native of UP. "
