GURUGRAM: Two friends returning home from a wedding died after their bike plunged 50ft from an under-construction railway overbridge (ROB) in Rewari on Monday night.
According to police, no ‘diversion’ signboard or barricade was installed at the entry of the under-construction ROB by the private firm contracted by the Indian Railways for the job and the bikers also failed to see the road ahead once they were on it around 9.30pm.

Bahadur (49), a resident of Nai Abadi in Rewari, and Sundar (45), a resident of Kharkhoda in Sonipat, landed on railway tracks underneath the overbridge and died on the spot. The duo worked as workers at a brick kiln in Rewari.
“It was dark and due to lack of signage, my brother and his friend took the under-construction ROB and landed on the railway tracks. Had there been a signboard or a barricade, my brother and his friend would have been saved,” Bahadur’s brother Deepak Kumar told the cops.
Based on his complaint, an FIR has been registered at government railway police station in Rewari under sections 304A (causing death by negligence) and 336 (whoever does any act so rashly or negligently as to endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the IPC.
“We are investigating the case,” said a police officer.
The bodies were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem, police officers said.
