GURGAON: In a joint operation, the STF and Gurgaon Crime Branch arrested five shooters involved in a conspiracy to murder Bollywood singer Rahul Fazilpuriya and are suspected to be involved in killing of his singer’s friend Rohit Shaukeen earlier this month.
Initial information revealed that the STF and Gurgaon Crime Branch received a tip-off that gangsters Deepak Nandal and Rohit Sirdhania, based abroad, were planning to execute the murder of Fazilpuriya after the killing of Shaukeen.
Acting on this intelligence, several cops laid a trap in the Wazirpur area on Gurgaon Pataudi Road.
When the cops attempted to stop a suspicious Innova without a number plate, the armed criminals inside the vehicle opened fire on the police party around 12:15 am.
During the exchange of fire, four criminals were shot in the legs, and one was apprehended from the spot.
A senior police officer disclosed that the arrested individuals are members of gangsters Rohit Sirdhania and Deepak Nandal, who are based abroad.
The identified suspects are Vinod Pehalwan from Jhajjar, Padam alias Raja from Sonipat, Shubham alias Kala, Gautam alias Gogi, and Ashish alias Ashu. Four of them sustained bullet injuries and have been admitted to government hospital here, where their condition is reported to be stable.
Gautam was arrested at the spot while others will be formally arrested after their discharge from the hospital.
According to the sources, these suspects had posted multiple posts online threatening the singer and claiming responsibility of Rohit Shaukeen’s murder.
