More plaints against Elvish as cops probe him in 3 cases

Gurgaon: Troubles continue to mount for YouTuber Elvish Yadav, who recently secured bail in the city and Noida in two different cases — one related to supply of snake venom at parties and the other for assaulting a fellow video creator — but will soon be booked in a third case, this one for using snakes in his videos shot at a mall. The scope of the probe will expand with Gurgaon police receiving around 25 complaints against him in the past two weeks, most of which are about threats and abuse on social media. None of the complaints has been converted into FIRs so far.The complainants have alleged Elvish posted “provocative” and “objectionable” content online, which could disrupt peace and harmony. They have also accused the YouTuber of threatening and hurling abuses on people on social media through his content and comments.All complaints have been filed via email. “We are investigating the allegations and further action will be taken based on the probe. We are reaching out to the complainants,” said a senior police officer of Sector 53 station.Complaints started pouring in after an FIR was filed against Elvish at the police station on March 8 after content creator Sagar Thakur — also known as Maxtern — alleged Elvish and his friends thrashed him in a mall.Police issued a notice and summoned Elvish for questioning on March 12, but he didn’t cooperate with them. Elvish was arrested from a farmhouse on March 17 in connection with the snake venom supply case and granted bail by a Noida court on March 22. The next day, he was granted bail by a Gurgaon court in the assault case.Rajendra Singh, SHO of Sector 53 police station, said, “During his interrogation in the assault case, Elvish revealed the names of four of his associates. All four have been issued notices to join the probe and record their statements.”On Thursday, the court of additional chief judicial magistrate Manoj Kumar Rana directed police to register a case against Elvish on a complaint filed by a member of an NGO. Complainant Saurabh Gupta alleged that Elvish, along with singer Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpur and others, used various snakes listed under the Wildlife (Protection) Act in a video shot at Earth Iconic mall in Sector 71 last year. Sources said police are yet to receive a copy of the court order and will lodge an FIR after they get it.
