According to officials, they have made a list of 67,698 families in urban Gurugram, belonging to the BPL category, on the basis of the 2011 Social and Economic Caste Census (SECC). As many as 495 Asha workers would continue the door-to-door survey started on Monday till June 12, after which the data of the verified people would be entered into a portal. “A card with an unique number will be issued to the beneficiaries,” said Dr MP Singh, the nodal officer of the scheme in Gurugram.
As part of the verification process, people are expected to visit the camps in their wards to register their presence and prove their identity. Additionally, the ASHA workers will visit the families in their list to ascertain whether they are still living at the addresses mentioned in the SECC list or have moved to other places.
According to officials, if some people have been added to the family, their names can be enrolled during the survey. “Children whose names are not in the SECC list, can add their names through their parents,” said Dr Singh. However, officials said they would not enrol people, including migrants, whose names don’t appear in the SECC list. “This is only for those who have domicile documents in Gurgaon. The rest have to go to their native place to get enrolled,” said an official.
Officials said the people enrolled in the scheme would get health benefits worth Rs 5 lakh per family per year and can access 1.5 lakh hospitals in the country, including both public and private hospitals.
According to officials of the health department, nearly 11,600 beneficiaries were verified from rural areas of Gurugram after excluding a few people from the list as they were not found at their homes. The number of absentees was not revealed. According to sources, the process of empanelment of private hospitals and facilities in Gurugram has also begun.
