MCG sets up Road Development Cell to fast-track projects, complaints
Gurgaon: The MCG has constituted a Road Development Cell (RDC) to closely monitor infrastructure projects and ensure faster grievance redressal, according to an official order issued on Tuesday. The cell has been created with immediate effect. The move is aimed at strengthening planning, execution and oversight of road works across the city, improving project quality and timelines, and enhancing coordination among multiple agencies involved in road construction and maintenance.
For effective implementation, the RDC will coordinate with departments and agencies such as GMDA, HSVP, PWD, the Traffic police, and other utility agencies to resolve issues related to construction, repairs and traffic management. The cell will function under the chairpersonship of MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, with additional commissioner-2 Ankita Choudhary as vice-chairperson. All executive and assistant engineers of the civic body will be members, along with consultant Anita Phalswal. "Formation of RDC will strengthen monitoring of road projects, increase transparency in construction works, and enable faster resolution of citizens' complaints than before. This will significantly help in making Gurugram's road system organised and safe," said Dahiya. According to the order, the RDC will monitor and review major road projects costing Rs 25 lakh or more. It will conduct periodic assessments of timelines, quality standards and financial progress. For quicker redressal of complaints, the cell will track grievances received through various platforms, including the GMDA portal, the MCG mobile app and the "Mhari Sadak" platform, which will be given priority. The aim is to ensure coordinated resolution so that residents do not have to lodge repeated complaints. The RDC will prepare periodic status reports on project progress and complaint disposal and submit them to the competent authority. It will also execute works in accordance with CQM directives, monitor road-related environmental targets and carry out tasks assigned by the authority. RDC meetings will be held every fortnight or as directed by the chairperson, and regional officers will be required to furnish relevant data and updates to the cell.
