29 arrests in 3 mths lift veil off gang that mopped 24 crore

Gurgaon: The police have arrested 29 cyber fraudsters this year for cheating people across the country of approximately Rs 24.1 crore. A total of 5,953 complaints were made against the gang's fraudulent activities, the police said.Ankit and Abhishek Singh wereheld in June, Md Ali Husain was arrested in July; Hulas Mandal, Mani Choubey, Khushwant Gaut, Rohit Singh, Mahendra Singh Panihar, Shriya, Chiezote U Lachu, Palak, K Lalbiakzuali, Mose Sangtam L Athihri, Min Bite, Vikhomnau Chwang, Lalboy Kipgen, Amos, Vidanwangbo, Paominlun, Ashish Ojha, Manish Kumar, Ramesh Gurung, Namchunbo, Monu Kumar and Ritu were arrested in Aug; Jyoti Mehra, Rahul Bisht and Gulshan Kumar were held in Sept. "Upon examination of the data from the recovered devices by I4C, it was revealed that there are 5,953 complaints and 256 cases registered against these individuals across the country, involving fraudulent activities. Out of these cases, 17 are registered in Haryana, with two cases in cyber crime police station east, four cases in cyber crime police station west, and one each at cyber crime police station, Manesar and cyber crime police station south."The investigation revealed that the accused were involved in various fraudulent activities, such as scamming people on the pretext of KYC updates, using fake Instagram accounts, providing technical support, and promising contracts with Maruti company. They would ask their victims to transfer money into their bank accounts and then never respond," said an official at the cyber police station.The police team recovered Rs 40,500 in cash, 7 mobile phones, 5 SIM cards, and 17 laptops from the possession of the accused.
