Leakage in sewer line hang fire in Dundahera

A visit to the spot revealed that there is a massive pool of black, smelly and putrid water emerging from the sewer line that has occupied a major chunk of the road.
Additionally, plastic waste and other decaying matter were littered all around the area, indicating that there has been no cleaning work done here for many days.
“This has led to a rise in many diseases in the area. Due to the presence of several eateries in the area, we are compelled to park our rickshaws here. There is a stiff competition among rickshaw pullers to lure riders. As a result, we are forced to stay in the area for long hours and it affects our health. Last week, two of the rickshaw pullers were diagnosed with dengue and admitted to a hospital,” said Ashok, a rickshaw puller.
Meanwhile, commuters in the area said it has been unclean for a long time. “Can we say Gurugram is a clean city after looking at all this mess?” asked Krishna, a commuter. He added, “The entire street looks dirty and unclean. It will make anyone sick because there is absolutely no sense of cleanliness here.”
Vimla, a local resident, said this was an abiding problem in the area. “Since the issue emerged a few months ago, we have been requesting the government authorities to intervene, but nothing has been happening. We have raised this issue in the regional media several times before, but in vain.”
Shopkeepers said the problem was affecting their business prospects. “One cannot even bring stand here,” said Saleem, a shop owner. “This thing discourages customer as they get scared. Our business is losing money because of the sewer leakage, apart from the risk that it poses to our health," he added.
When TOI reached out to the officials from Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG), they said that the sewer leakage issue will be resolved soon and the area will be cleaned.
