Gurgaon: Expressing fears that he could be killed in a fake
encounter or targeted by his rival Binder Gujjar’s men, gangster Kaushal has filed an application in a Gurgaon court seeking adequate security, daily health checkup and video-recording of his travel for hearings. Kaushal is currently in the custody of the Gurgaon police in connection with a murder case.
Binder, on the other hand, is lodged in Bhondsi jail.
While Kaushal has filed the application in the local court through his lawyers SS Chouhan and Rahul Chohan, his mother has also submitted a petition to the Haryana CM, the home minister, and the Gurgaon police commissioner expressing fears for his son’s life. “There are apprehensions that the investigating officer in the case might resort to third degree torture or kill him in an encounter in collusion with members of the rival gang,” Chouhan, the counsel for Kaushal, told TOI on Friday.
Kaushal has also urged the court to give directions to the investigating officer of the case to conduct his health checkup every six hours till he’s in police custody.
“He has also prayed before the judge to direct the cops to videograph his journey from the Gurgaon police lockup to court for hearings or any other place. The court has, however, declined this request, but allowed his medical examination as per law,” said Chouhan.
Binder Gujjar, Chouhan said, was recently shifted to Bhondsi jail from a prison in Mumbai. “Gujjar had earlier eliminated one of his rivals and he might do the same with Kaushal, his arch rival,” he said.
On June 15, the Gurgaon police took Kaushal on production remand from Hisar jail in connection with the murder of dairy farm owner Manish (24), a resident of Basai. On February 22, Manish went to pick up an SUV from a friend in Firoz Gandhi Colony when he was shot dead. The crime unit of Sector 17 arrested two youths — Yogender (24) of Sahjawas village, and Sanjay Panchal (31) of Gandhi Nagar in March — in connection with the murder. The duo told cops that the murder was ordered by Kaushal.
