GURGAON: The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) enforcement department on Thursday came down heavily on advertisers flouting the rule book and pulled down illegal hoardings and other advertisements outside malls and buildings.
The enforcement team, along with other officers of the MCG, removed the illegal hoardings in the city despite Thursday being a holiday.
The drive went on for the entire day and will continue for some weeks now, according to officials.
The venues where the illegal hoardings were removed were Ambience Mall, Central Mall and other malls apart from markets on MG Road. The department had served notice to the companies and the malls for flouting the rules and regulations and putting up the advertisements without permission.
According to Raman Sharma, Executive Engineer, MCG (enforcement), “The department had informed them a week in advance and asked them to remove the illegal hoardings on their premises and took necessary action by removing them. The drive for removing the illegal hoardings in the city has been going on for some weeks and is set to continue some more time.
In the present circumstances, it is not necessary for the department to serve notice and many surprise visits are likely.”
The team included Raman Sharma and Vijay Dhaka, SDO, apart from other
junior officers who started visiting the sites early on Thursday morning. The officers claimed that the drive was peaceful and the defaulters did not really raise an objection.
