Illegal colonies, site office razed in DTCP drive in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: The district town planning (DTP) enforcement wing carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised colonies and illegal structures at several locations in the city on Feb 11 and 13. Foundation-level construction, boundary walls and internal roads in Sadhrana, Bohra Kalan, Jamalpur and Sector 89 were demolished with support from police teams from Sector 10A and Bilaspur stations. Acting on complaints received through the chief minister's grievance window, enforcement teams reached the revenue estate of village Sadhrana on Feb 13. In one unauthorised colony, three damp proof course foundations were demolished and the earthen road network was removed to prevent further construction and sale of plots. In another action in the same village, officials demolished 13 damp proof course foundations and cleared internal roads in a separate illegal colony, stopping development work at the site.
On the same day, teams also took action inside Wood View Residency, a licensed colony in Sector 89 developed by Orris Pvt Ltd. An unauthorised site office built on licensed land without approval was identified and demolished. Officials said the structure violated sanctioned plans and had been built without permission. "Such structures often become points for illegal sales or misleading buyers. We are ensuring strict compliance within licensed colonies as well," an enforcement official said.Earlier, on Feb 11, the enforcement wing demolished two unauthorised colonies in the revenue estates of Bohra Kalan and Jamalpur under Bilaspur police station. At one site, 11 damp proof course foundations and boundary walls were removed and the earthen road network cleared. At the second site, 15 damp proof course foundations and demarcation structures were demolished along with internal roads to prevent further construction. Police were deployed at all locations to maintain law and order, and officials said the operations were carried out without major resistance. "Targeting construction at the foundation stage and removing access roads is intended to discourage illegal plotting before permanent structures are built," officials said. The enforcement wing said monitoring has been stepped up in developing sectors and revenue estates where unauthorised colonies are often reported. Buyers were advised to verify approvals and licences before investing in plots or under-construction projects. "Action against illegal colonies and unauthorised construction will continue. The objective is to curb unplanned development and protect homebuyers from fraudulent land deals," an official said.
