GURGAON: The Haryana Urban Development Authority (
HUDA) is planning to hand over several industrial sectors in Gurgaon to the Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
In a high-level meeting held recently, officials of the HUDA and HSIIDC discussed the details of the sectors that should be handed over in the next four months. A senior HUDA official said while no deadline has been set by the authority, the sectors would be handed over in a phased manner.
The industrial sectors of HUDA, which would be handed over, include sectors 33, 34, 37 part 1 and part 2.
Officials are now busy compiling the structural design details of the roads, sewerage pipes and water lines of these sectors.
There are full-fledged industries running in these sectors and this is right time to hand them over. This will help us to focus on the development of other projects, said a senior HUDA official. Industrialists in these sectors have supported the decision.
The demands of industrial sectors are different from those of residential sectors. The HSIDC would govern and develop the industrial sectors in a better manner, said an industrialist based in Sector 37 part 1.
In Haryana, the HUDA is the apex agency for developing both housing and industrial sectors, which are later handed over to the corporation and HSIDC. In Gurgaon, the agency is also planning to hand over residential sectors to the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon. HUDA sources claim that both the agencies are keen to take over these HUDA sectors, but the change-over exercise is riddled with problems including manpower, HUDA control and the development of open spaces.
These issues are yet to be sorted out between the agencies and this might take some time, said another HUDA official.
For the HUDA, meanwhile, the biggest challenge is to coax its employees to work in MCG after these sectors are taken over by the corporation.
There are not many HUDA employees in departments like horticulture, sewerage and road construction, who are keen on joining the MCG. Even after joining the MCG, the HUDA employees will keep getting their salaries from the HUDA and their seniority will be maintained in our records, said a HUDA official.
