AMBALA: The Ambala police have arrested an accused person allegedly for murdering his wife with a 'kirpan' (small sword) in Kesri village of Ambala district on Tuesday night.
The police said accused Baljinder Singh of Kesri village was arrested on Wednesday under charges of 302 (punishment for
murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), who would be produced in the court on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Manjeet Kaur (40), wife of accused Baljinder, who died of stabbing injuries in her chest and stomach undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Shahabad, Kurukshetra.
On the complaint of Manjeet's brother, Jasbir Singh of Kami Khurd village in Patiala district, the police booked Baljinder under murder charges at Saha police station on Wednesday.
Jasbir said, "My sister was married to Baljinder for about 14 years. They have two children including a daughter (11) and a son (9). Baljinder often used to fight at home and we had warned him. On Tuesday at about 9.30 pm, Manjeet's brother-in-law Gurwinder called me on phone to inform that Baljinder has injured Manjeet by stabbing her in chest and stomach. Gurwinder told that they taking her to a private hospital near Mohri (Shahabad). When I along with my family members reached the hospital, my sister Manjeet had died of her injuries."
Saha police station house officer (SHO) Gurmail Singh said, "We have arrested accused Baljinder, who stabbed his wife with a small kirpan. The woman died at the hospital undergoing treatment. We have recovered the weapon used in the crime from the custody of accused Baljinder and he would be produced in the court on Thursday."
