KURUKSHETRA: The bodies of two kanwariyas who were swept away in the Markanda river behind Maharishi Markandeshwar were recovered by the district administration on Saturday.

Kanwariyas Raman, Ajit, and Guri of Sulkhani village in Shahabad block of Kurukshetra district were swept away on Friday. Bodies of Ajit and Guri were found by the teams of administration and NDRF, while Raman is still missing.

Shahabad police station house officer (SHO) inspector Rajpal said, "Bodies of Ajit and Guri were found at some distance from the point at which they jumped into Markanda river. Efforts are being made to search third missing youth Raman."

The SHO said the bodies of Ajit and Guri were handed over to their family members after post-mortem, who conducted their last rites.
