GURGAON: The nephew of notorious gangster Kala Jatheri was arrested on Tuesday for making extortion calls to the director of a music company.
In a complaint lodged at Sector 37 police station on September 17, the director alleged that Deepak (29) alias Kaccha wanted his company to end its contract with singer Guru Haryanvi to release 10-12 songs every year and organise stage shows for the next five years.
Police said Guru, also known as Manoj among his friends and family, had a dispute with the company and didn't want to continue with the agreement. The firm, however, was in no mood to terminate the contract.
Guru, police said, was called to perform at the birthday party of Kala Jatheri's brother when he met Kaccha and gave him the contact to intimidate the company director. The singer was also arrested on Tuesday.

Originally named Sandeep, Kala Jatheri of Sonipat worked for gangster Lawrence Bishnoi before he was arrested by Delhi Police in 2021. This was a year after he fled police custody in Haryana. Kala Jatheri's gang, however, is still active in Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, thriving mainly on extortion calls.
Sub-inspector Lalit Kumar, who heads the crime unit in Manesar, said both Kaccha and the singer, Guru, were untraceable for the next few weeks after the police complaint was lodged against them last month.
ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya said Guru had a five-year agreement with the company. "He tried to end the contract himself, but failed. So, he hired Kaccha to make a threat call to the director. Kaccha called up the company head, boasted about his contacts with Kala Jatheri and threatened to kill him if he did not terminate the agreement with the singer. Scared, he approached police," he added.
Kaccha, police said, has two cases of murder and attempt to murder registered against him in Sonipat.
