This Sunday’s Raahgiri Day saw Gurgaonwallahs in a patriotic mood, celebrating the spirit of Independence Day well in advance. There were loads of activities too, adding to the regular Raahgiri fun, like karate class, tree planting, musical performance, cycling and skating. Sunita Khanna, a resident of Gurgaon, said, “I have been regularly attending Raahgiri Day.
However, it’s more fun in winters than in summers. It’s interesting to see so many activities happening on the road on a Sunday morning. Today I participated in the tree planting activity and also got free saplings to take back home.”
Many Raahgirs were already in the Independence Day mood. We spotted groups of youngsters with the national flag in their hand, celebrating the spirit of freedom.
The day also included a musical performance by a local band, Reverse Gear. Aditya Vashisht, a band member, told us, “We feel good to be part of the Raahgiri event as it has given us the chance to showcase our talents before the audience. This is our second performance and we are overwhelmed with the response from the crowd.”
“It’s a good bahana to spend some time with family and kids on Sunday. Usually, with such a busy and hectic lifestyle, we hardly get time to exercise. Raahgiri offers the perfect place to work out, chill and relax,” said Rohit Gupta.
