GURGAON: A 50-year-old man was arrested from Nathupur on Tuesday for allegedly killing his neighbour on suspicion of stealing his wife's sari. POlice said while accused Ajay Kumar is from Uttar Pradesh , victim Pintu Kumar (29) had come to the city from Bihar looking for jobs.

On Tuesday morning, Ajay's wife Reena told him that their neighbour Pintu had stolen her sari. Pintu, who works as a security guard in the city, when reached home at 8pm, was confronted by Ajay. The former refuted the allegations and an argument followed.

Police said Ajay and Pintu lived in separate rooms in the same rented accommodation. Ashok Kumar, Pintu's roommate and an an eyewitness to the incident, told the police that Ajay, who also works as a security guard, took out his double barrel gun and shot Pintu in the stomach.

"We tried to stop Ajay by taking away his gun but he somehow overpowered us and snatched it back. He then shot Pintu," Ashok mentioned in his complaint.

Pintu was rushed to Narayana Hospital in DLF 3, where he died during the treatment.

"The security guard had committed the crime using his licensed gun. We have seized his gun and are questioning him," a senior police officer said.

Ajay was arrested on Tuesday under Section 302 (murder) of IPCand relevant sections of the Arms Act at DLF-3 police station.
