Group of men beats up 5 youths with rods, chases & tries to run them over with car in Gurgaon
GURGAON: A group of men assaulted five youths with iron rods, chased them, and attempted to run them over with their car near the Sector 53 metro station on Golf Course Road, police said on Friday. During the incident, the accused also vandalised the victims' cars.
A case has since been registered under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 190 (every member of an unlawful assembly liable for offences committed by any member to achieve a common goal), 191(2) (rioting), 324(4) (mischief), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 110 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) of BNS. Cops also visited the crime scene, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the accused.
The incident occurred around 1.50am when Divya Parkash, a resident of Ansal Society in Sector 67, stopped at a tea stall with his friends Hansraj, Rahul, Himanshu and Manish.
As per the complaint by Parkash, shortly after this, two unidentified men arrived on a motorcycle, briefly stopped at the stall and fled immediately after leaving the two-wheeler there.
Some time later, a Grand Vitara car reached the spot and two occupants stepped out and questioned the group about the motorcycle riders.
When the youths said they had no information about where they went, one of the men allegedly slapped Hansraj, accusing them of lying. As Hansraj tried to defend himself, the situation quickly escalated.
Within moments, three more from the same car joined the group assaulting the youths. The group allegedly surrounded the youths and began attacking them with iron rods.
As the victims attempted to flee, the assailants allegedly blocked their way and continued the attack. Parkash stated that during the chaos, he was hit from behind by the Vitara car, causing injuries to his stomach and nose. The attackers also allegedly issued death threats as the group tried to escape.
In addition, the accused allegedly vandalised two vehicles of the victims by striking them with iron rods. The accused also allegedly took away personal belongings, including a purse, spectacles and a watch, from Parkash's car.
Police said they were first alerted about the incident by a private hospital in Sector 53, where the injured were taken for treatment. However, the victims left soon after they were treated. The following day, Parkash approached the police station and submitted a formal complaint.
